Niebrugge Set For All-America Golf Classic

EL PASO, Texas - Oklahoma State's Jordan Niebrugge will be among 20 of the nation's top collegiate golfers making their way to El Paso this weekend to tee it up at the 40th edition of the Sun Bowl Western Refining College All-America Golf Classic at El Paso Country Club.
The event will get underway on Friday at 9 a.m. with the Titleist Long Drive and Ping putting contests. Play will begin with the first of Saturday's two rounds at 8 a.m. The tournament will conclude with Sunday's final round, which is slated to start at 8 a.m.
Niebrugge will be competing in the event for the second year in a row. As a sophomore last year, he posted three consecutive rounds of 72 to finish at 216 and in 19th place.
With Niebrugge's appearance this year, it will mark the 35th time a Cowboy has participated in the tournament. He will be looking to become the second OSU champion. Willie Wood posted a three-stroke victory in 1981.
Rafael Alarcon (1979), Edward Loar (1997), Trent Leon (2008) and Morgan Hoffmann (2009) all posted runner-up finishes. Loar, Leon and Hoffmann all lost in playoffs.
Each university represented at the event will receive a $1,000 scholarship.
