Cowgirls Earn Academic Accolades

IRVING, Texas -- Oklahoma State had 11 student-athletes named to 2014 Academic All-Big 12 Conference Soccer Team, it was announced by the league office today.
Ten Cowgirls were named to the Academic All-Big 12 First Team, while OSU placed one on the second team.
Highlighting OSU's list of honorees is senior forward George Christie, an allied health major who earned a spot on the Academic All-Big 12 First team for the third time in her career.
Five Cowgirls earned first-team accolades for the second time in their careers -- senior Baillie Burmaster, and juniors Kelsey Bass, Madison Mercado, Lauren Reyes and Allie Stephenson.
OSU also had four student-athletes earn academic all-conference honors for the first time in their careers as senior Miriam Rhinehart, sophomores Natalie Calhoun and Courtney Dike and redshirt freshman Niki McKnight each earned a spot on the first team.
Junior Delaney Kiely picked up second-team honors after being a first-team performer as a sophomore.
The 2014 Academic All-Big 12 Soccer Team is comprised of 91 student-athletes, with 78 of those named to the first team.
First team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.20 or better grade point average, while the second team selections hold a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA.
To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in 60 percent of their team's scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.
