Four Cowgirls Named All-Big 12

IRVING, Texas – Oklahoma State had four players named to the 2014 All-Big 12 Conference Soccer Team, it was announced today by the league office.
Each of the Cowgirls' four honorees is now a multiple time all-conference performer. Junior midfielder Allie Stephenson was named to the All-Big 12 First Team after earning second-team plaudits a year ago. A pair of sophomores, defender Natalie Calhoun and forward Courtney Dike, earned All-Big 12 Second Team honors for the second consecutive year, while junior forward Madison Mercado was also a second-team selection after being a second teamer as a freshman in 2012.
Stephenson has played a part in over 40 percent of OSU's scores this season and ranks in the top 10 in the Big 12 in goals, points and shots. The Lee's Summit, Mo. native has recorded a team-high six goals to go along with three assists and also leads the Cowgirls with 52 shots, 21 of those on goal.
Calhoun, who hails from Sachse, Texas, has anchored an OSU defense that has recorded six shutouts and a 1.22 goals-against average. A center back who has started all 19 games for the Cowgirls, she leads the team among field players in minutes played with 1,696.
A native of Edmond, Okla., Dike has recorded three goals, two of them game winners, and is tied for the team lead with three assists. She is the Cowgirls' leading scorer in Big 12 games, and of her 45 shots, 20 of those have been on goal.
Despite missing three-plus games with an injury, Mercado is OSU's second leading scorer with nine points. She is second on the squad with four goals, two of them game winners, and also has an assist.
The Cowgirls' All-Big 12 quartet led OSU to a 10-8-1 record and a second place finish in the conference standings at 5-2-1.
