STILLWATER - When Oklahoma State travels to Norman to face Oklahoma next Saturday, bragging rights are at stake. Not just for Orange or Crimson-clad fans across the state, but also for the players and coaches on the field, many of whom were on the same team in earlier days. A look at some of this year's football connections between the Cowboys and the Sooners:
• Oklahoma State coach Mike Gundy is the older brother of Oklahoma running backs coach Cale Gundy.
• Oklahoma State Assistant A.D. for speed, strength and conditioning Rob Glass and Oklahoma head coach Bob Stoops served together under Steve Spurrier at Florida from 1996-98, with Glass heading up the Gator strength and conditioning program and Stoops working as defensive coordinator.
• Oklahoma State defensive ends coach Joe Bob Clements played defensive end at Kansas State when Oklahoma coaches Bob and Mike Stoops served on the Wildcat staff. Mike Stoops was Clements' position coach from 1994-96.
• Oklahoma State receivers coach Kasey Dunn served alongside Oklahoma offensive coordinator Josh Heupel and Oklahoma linebackers coach Tim Kish under then-Arizona head coach and current Oklahoma defensive coordinator Mike Stoops from 2004-06.
• Oklahoma State receivers coach Jason Ray and Oklahoma defensive line coach Jerry Montgomery coached together at Wyoming from 2009-10.
• Oklahoma State cornerbacks coach Van Malone was a cornerback at Texas while Oklahoma cornerbacks coach Bobby Jack Wright was an assistant coach on the Longhorn staff from 1990-93.
• Oklahoma State offensive line coach Bob Connelly served with Oklahoma receivers coach Jay Norvell at UCLA in 2007. Connelly coached the Bruin offensive line and Norvell was offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach.
• Oklahoma State quarterback Daxx Garman was recruited to Arizona by Mike Stoops and his staff.
• Oklahoma State defensive end Jordan Brailford and Oklahoma linebacker Dominique Alexander come from the same Booker T. Washington HS program in Tulsa.
• Oklahoma State running back Corey Bennett and Oklahoma guard Dylan Hartsook and defensive back Dylan Briggs all played at Choctaw HS outside of Oklahoma City.
• Oklahoma State cornerback Ashton Lampkin and Oklahoma linebacker Rashod Favors were teammates at Dunbar HS in Fort Worth.
• Oklahoma State receiver Christian Schroeder and Oklahoma defensive tackle Chase Frazier both attended Grapevine HS in Grapevine, Texas.
• Oklahoma State quarterback Daxx Garman and Oklahoma cornerback Cortez Johnson were teammates at Arizona.
• Oklahoma State offensive lineman Lemaefe Galea'i and Oklahoma offensive lineman Nila Kasitati both attended Trinity HS in Euless, Texas.
• Oklahoma State safety Dylan Harding and kicker Kevin King both attended Jenks HS outside of Tulsa, which also produced Oklahoma safeties Brandon Kitchens and Steven Parker, running back Alex Ross and receiver Jordan Smallwood.
• Oklahoma State receiver Austin Hays was a teammate of Oklahoma quarterback Trevor Knight and Sooner tight end Connor Knight at Ronald Reagan HS in San Antonio, Texas.
• Oklahoma State cornerback Chris Hardeman and receiver Keenen Brown were teammates of Oklahoma Ogbonnia Okoronkwo at Alief Taylor HS in Houston.
• Oklahoma State kicker Matt Hockett and Oklahoma linebacker Cade Parker were teammates at Norman HS.
• Oklahoma State defensive end Victor Irokansi and Oklahoma running back Samaje Perine were teammates at Hendrickson HS in Pflugerville, Texas.
• Oklahoma State receiver Jhajuan Seales and Oklahoma defensive tackle Matthew Romar both attended Memorial HS in Port Arthur, Texas.
• Oklahoma State defensive end Sam Wren and Oklahoma offensive lineman Dionte Savage were teammates at Arizona Western CC.
• Oklahoma State cornerback Archibald Ocloo-Lee and Oklahoma defensive tackle Kane Snowden and safety Brian Walker all attended Westmoore HS in Moore, Okla.
