OSU Wrestling Signs Seven
November 18, 2014 | Cowboy Wrestling
STILLWATER – John Smith and the Oklahoma State wrestling squad announced today the signing of seven student-athletes for the incoming class of 2015.
“I'm happy with the group we signed,” coach John Smith said. “It fills some basic needs for our program.”
The signees include four Oklahoma natives and three out-of-state recruits.
Just a mile down the road from Gallagher-Iba Arena, Stillwater High School wrestlers Kaid Brock, Tristan Moran and Joe Smith signed their letters of intent on Wednesday.
“It's nice to be able to sign three kids from Stillwater,” Smith said. “My son, Joseph, and Kaid Brock are two kids that have been running around in Gallagher since they were about four years old. That's fun to see them get the opportunity to be a part of this program. Tristan Moran from Stillwater brings a fun style. He's a pinner and can wrestle in all kinds of positions.”
Joining the squad from Yukon, Okla., Boo Lewallen rounds out the in-state signees.
“Boo Lewallen out of Yukon has solid technique, and he looks like he'll be a 141 or 149 pounder,” Smith said. “We're excited to have him.”
The rest of the group is made up of Nick Piccininni of New York, Andrew Marsden of Illinois and Lincoln Olson of Michigan.
“Piccininni from New York is a good, lightweight kid, who has been really proving himself all over the nation,” Smith said. “From Michigan, we got Lincoln Olson and he appears to be a real grinder. He's won a lot of big matches in his career. Finally, we've got Andrew Marsden, the brother of Austin Marsden. He looks like he'll likely grow into a heavyweight like his brother did.”
