Cowboys Show Off at Oklahoma Open

TULSA, Okla. – Oklahoma State's wrestling team sent 20 wrestlers to the Oklahoma Open on Sunday in Tulsa, Okla. Six Cowboys won titles at the event and 10 others finished in the top three.
Three of the finals bouts pitted Cowboys against each other, including 133 pounds, 157 pounds and 165 pounds.
At 125 pounds, sophomore Connor Cline earned a 7-2 decision over his teammate Donald Cannon to advance him to the finals, where he defeated Zack Edwards of NEO, 7-3.
Freshman Gary Wayne Harding and OU transfer Kyle Garcia went head-to-head in 133-pound final. It was Harding who came out victorious with a 10-8 win. The freshman also notched a fall and a 6-0 decision on the day.
Cedar City, Utah, native Dusty Hone made it to the 141-pound final, where he met up with OU's Noah Teaney. The Cowboy was bested in a 6-3 battle.
At 149, Jonce Blaylock won the title as it was decided in a round-robin format. He walked away with two wins by decision and two major decision victories. Michael Martin finished second at the weight.
Cowboys Chance Marsteller and Keilan Torres fought for the championship at 157 pounds, with Marsteller coming out on top with a 15-2 major decision.
The last Cowboy vs. Cowboy finals match was at 165 pounds between two newcomers, where Chandler Rogers earned a pin over Ryan Blees in 1:10.
The final champ for the Pokes was Quinten Patterson, who won the 174-pound bracket with a 2:26 fall against Kevin Hope of Bacone College. The OSU senior shut out OU's Brice Inbody with a 10-0 major decision in the semifinals.
Freshman Tanner Allen made it to the heavyweight finals, where he fell to Rex Shotts of Oklahoma with a 6:56 pin.
Third-place finishes came from Mike Magaldo (141), Chris Koo (157) and Ben Laures (197).
Also competing for the orange and black was Zac Gentzler (125), Lincoln Lemon (141), Sam Mehan (165), and Landry Chappell (184).
The Pokes will be back at it on Nov. 22, when they travel to St. Charles, Mo., for the Lindenwood Open.
