Morrison Selected as Big 12 Wrestler of the Week

IRVING, Texas – Senior 133-pounder Jon Morrison was named the Big 12 Wrestler of the Week for competition from Dec. 16 through Jan. 5, the conference announced Monday. This marks third weekly conference honor of Morrison's career.
“It's awesome to wrestle in a great conference like the Big 12 and get recognized,” Morrison said. “I look forward to continue building and improving for the second half of the season.”
Morrison earned his second-consecutive Southern Scuffle title at 133 pounds on Jan. 2. The title came with six wins, including a fall over Bucknell's Grim Gonzalez in the first round and a major decision over Air Force's Carter McElhany in the third round. The Orland Park, Ill., native also tallied two wins over ranked opponents in No. 13 Joe Roth and No. 16 Mac McGuire. Morrison met Penn State's James Gulibon in the finals, where he shut out the Nittany Lion, 4-0, to win the bracket.
The senior improved to 14-0 on the season and holds a 4-0 record over ranked opponents. He has recorded three falls and four major decisions so far this season.
Morrison is the top-ranked 133 pounder in all three of the major wrestling polls, including Amateur Wrestling News, Intermat and W.I.N. Magazine.
