Dieringer Picked as Big 12 Wrestler of the Week

IRVING, Texas - Oklahoma State sophomore wrestler Alex Dieringer was named the Big 12 Wrestler of the Week for competition from Jan. 21 through Jan. 26. This marks the first weekly award of Dieringer's career.
On Friday, Dieringer maintained a perfect 3-0 record against Big 12 competition when he defeated Iowa State's John Nicholson with a 14-3 major decision. The Port Washington, Wisc., native controlled the bout, scoring four takedowns and a three-point nearfall to help lead the Pokes to a 29-3 win over the Cyclones.
The major decision was his first of the season and 12th bonus-point win for the 2013-14 campaign.
Dieringer, the No. 3 157-pounder in the nation, is now 18-1 overall and 7-1 in dual competition.
The honor marks the third weekly award for the Cowboys this season.
