Cowboys Finish Third At Nicklaus Invitational

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Oklahoma State's men's golf team used a 286 during its third round on Monday to finish third at the Jack Nicklaus Invitational at Ohio State University's Scarlet Course.
The Cowboys' 2-over closing round gave them a 54-hole tally of 863, 9-over par. California posted a 19-stroke victory, finishing at 10-under 842 at the par-71, 7,455-yard layout. Oklahoma was second with an 861 score.
Cal also produced the event's individual medalist with Brandon Hagy carding a 69 to finish at 6-under 207 and one stroke clear of the field.
The Cowboys registered a pair of top-five finishes, with sophomore Wyndham Clark and senior Ian Davis sharing fourth place at 3-under 210.
Clark posted the low round of the day among the 60 competitors in the field, firing a 5-under 66 to move up eight spots. With an outward nine that featured three birdies against one bogey, Clark turned at 2-under 34. Clark sandwiched a bogey at the 11th with birdies at the 10th and 12th to get to 3-under for the day and closed with birdies on his final two holes to post his career-low round.
Davis carded his second consecutive even-par 71 after opening with a 68 to get to his 210 total.
Sophomore Jordan Niebrugge posted a 75 to finish tied for 16th place at 219, while freshman Zachary Olsen's second 74 in a row tied him for 27th place at 224.
Senior Talor Gooch tied for 37th place at 227 after carding a 75 during his third round.
The Cowboys will be back in action on Oct. 18 when they travel to Alpharetta, Ga., to take part in the U.S. Collegiate.
