Cowboys In Third At Nicklaus Invite

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Oklahoma State's men's golf team wrapped up the first day of action at the Jack Nicklaus Invitational on Sunday with a 577 total to stand alone in third place at Ohio State University's Scarlet Course.
The Cowboys opened with a 292 during their morning round and followed with a 285 at the par-71, 7,455-yard layout to finish the day four shots behind Oklahoma. California built a 12-shot lead over the field and stands at 7-under 561 heading into tomorrow's final round.
Cal's Brandon Hagy snared the individual lead by a single stroke over a pair of players with a 138 score.
OSU's Ian Davis and Cal's Pace Johnson shared second place at 139. Davis posted an opening 68 before carding an even-par 71 during his second round to find his way to the runner-up position. The senior put together a bogey-free opening round that featured birdies at the fourth, ninth and 12th to get to his 3-under score.
During round two, Davis offset five bogeys with three birdies and an eagle to finish at level par for the round.
Sophomore Wyndham Clark rallied after an opening 75 with a 69 to move into a tie for 12th place at 144. He was joined by classmate Jordan Niebrugge, who posted rounds of 73 and 71.
Freshman Zachary Olsen's Cowboy debut included rounds of 76 and 74 to tie him for 29th place at 150.
Senior Talor Gooch posted a pair of 76s to finish the day tied for 36th place at 152.
The Cowboys will close out the event tomorrow beginning at 9:05 a.m. (EST) and will be grouped with California and Oklahoma.
