Way Named Third-Team Academic All-American

Oklahoma State's Caitlin Way has been named a Capital One Women's Track and Field Third-Team Academic All-American., it was announced Thursday.
Earlier this month, Way was named a first-team Academic All-American for District 7, and parlayed that into making the third team nationally.
Way, a junior thrower from Mitchell, S.D., was a key performer in the throwing events for OSU while maintaining excellence in the classroom.
Way carries a cumulative 4.0 GPA, majoring in physiology-premedicine/preprofessional.
To be eligible for Academic All-America consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative G.P.A. of at least 3.30 on a scale of 4.00 and have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution.
Way was a first-team All-Big 12 performer in both indoor and outdoor track and field. In the indoor weight throw, Way took seventh place at the Big 12 meet, and she took fourth in the hammer at the outdoor Big 12 meet. She also qualified for the NCAA West Preliminary Round in the hammer.
