LOS ANGELES – Former Oklahoma State wrestler Jordan Oliver went 2-0 on the day at the United 4 Wrestling event in Los Angeles on Sunday, defeating Russia's Magomed Kurbanaliev and Haislan Garcia of Canada.
Oliver's thriller of a match against Kurbanaliev opened the event and was the first match under the new freestyle rules that were introduced on Saturday by the International Federation of Associated Wrestling (FILA). Oliver trailed with just seconds left in the match before scoring a takedown to edge Kurbanaliev, 7-6. Oliver continued his freestyle dominance in his bout against Garcia, where he defeated the Canadian, 5-2.
The day was also highlighted by performances from former Cowboys Coleman Scott and Chris Pendleton.
Pendleton earned a technical fall over Canada's Manjot Sandhu in less than two minutes, winning 10-0, while Scott fell to Opan Sat of Russia, 6-2.
