GAINESVILLE, Fla. -
Chase Ealey launched the second-longest shot put in OSU history, and Caitlin Way threw her best mark of the season in the hammer throw for the Oklahoma State men's and women's track and field teams in day two of the Pepsi Florida Relays in Gainesville, Fla., on Saturday.
Ealey's shot put of 15.99m/52-05.5 is the second-longest mark in OSU history, a new personal best and was good enough for eighth place in the event. She also vaulted into the No. 11 spot in the NCAA West Region.
Way's launch of 55.39m/181-09 earned her a seventh-place finish, and was her best mark of the outdoor season.
"Both girls competed at a new level this weekend," OSU throws coach John Baumann said. "If you take out two unattached competitors, Chase [Ealey] would have been sixth overall. Just a great weekend for both of them."
Next weekend, April 12-13, the OSU track and field teams will travel to Fayetteville, Ark., for the John McDonnell Invitational, hosted by the University of Arkansas.
