STILLWATER -
Oklahoma State's women's tennis team will close the 2013 regular season this Saturday, April 20th, when they host No. 36 Oklahoma at the DeBois Tennis Complex at 1 p.m.
Senior Day
This Saturday will mark the final home match for Cowgirl seniors Malika Rose and C.C. Sardinha. The Cowgirl tennis team will celebrate Senior Day this Saturday to honor these graduating seniors.
Matchup History
The Cowgirls hold a 30-18 record against Oklahoma in the two programs' histories. The Sooners took the victory when the two teams collided last month in Norman. In that match, Oklahoma narrowly edged Oklahoma State, 4-3.
Cowgirls in the Rankings
Oklahoma State's women's tennis team dropped four spots to No. 37 in this week's team rankings released by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association on Tuesday afternoon.
Oklahoma State is represented in this week's singles rankings as well, with senior Cowgirl Malika Rose coming in at No. 63. Rose also appears in the ITA doubles rankings along with teammate Kanyapat Narattana. The duo is up one spot from last week, slotted at No. 36.
Eyeing the Opponents
The 36th-ranked Sooners enter Saturday's match with a 13-7 overall record and a 5-3 mark in conference play. Oklahoma is coming off of a 4-3 win over TCU in Norman on Sunday.
Oklahoma's roster boasts one player ranked in this week's ITA singles rankings and two doubles teams appearing in the ITA doubles rankings. 69th-ranked Hermon Brhane represents the Sooners in singles. Brhane and Whitney Ritchie combine to make up the nation's eighth-ranked doubles team. The Sooner tandem of Emma Devine and Mia Lancaster come in at No. 82.
Around the Big 12
The Cowgirls currently sit in sixth place in the Big 12 Conference standings with a conference record of 4-4. Oklahoma State is one match behind Oklahoma for the fifth spot. Texas Tech leads the conference with a perfect 7-0 conference record, but TCU, Texas and Baylor, all 6-1 in conference play, sit in a tie for second.
Climbing the Record Books
With her win over Stefanie Tan last weekend, Malika Rose earned her 63rd career singles victory, tying Kate Vasylyeva for seventh place on the program's all-time singles wins list. Rose now sits four wins back from Kate Kolodynska in the sixth spot.
Phenomenal Freshman
With her victory over Iowa State's Ana Gasparovic, Cowgirl freshman Maria Alvarez earned her 20th overall win of the season. Alvarez is the eighth freshman in school history to reach the single-season 20-win mark. The freshman won eight matches in tournament play last fall and has notched 12 dual wins over the course of this spring. The last freshman to reach 20 wins in a season was current sophomore Meghan Blevins. During her freshman season, Blevins racked up 21 overall victories.

The Cowgirls are coming off of two tough 5-2 losses at the hands of TCU and Baylor. Malika Rose highlighted the match against TCU with a 6-4, 6-3 win over No. 43 Stefanie Tan. Meghan Blevins and Kanyapat Narattana each notched singles victories in impressive performances against Baylor.
