WALNUT, Calif. -
Taylor Monaghan grabbed third place in the Olympic elite division of the 3,000 meter steeplechase to lead the Oklahoma State track and field teams in day one of the Mt. SAC Relays, in Walnut, Calif., on Thursday.
Monaghan's time of 8:58.33 was just off his personal best of 8:56.14, which he set earlier in the year at the Stanford Invitational.
On the women's side, in the 1,500 meters, Kate Kujawa (4:25.91) and Adela Hofmannova (4:30.01) finished 22nd and 55th, respectively, out of 171 total competitors.
“It was a good effort from all three runners today,” OSU Coach Dave Smith said. “Obviously Taylor [Monaghan] getting third in the elite division is really good. Kate [Kujawa] and Adela [Hofmannova] competed, and that's what you ask for when you come to one of the top meets in the nation.”
The OSU track and field teams will be back in action tomorrow, April 19, for day two of the Mt. SAC Relays, and the Bryan Clay Invite in Asuza, Calif.
