Kindig Advances to Championship Tournament

LAS VEGAS – Oklahoma State wrestler Josh Kindig picked up three wins in Thursday's 66 kilogram qualification tournament to advance to the championship tournament of the 2013 ASICS U.S. Open, which begins in earnest tomorrow.
In his first bout of the day with Darius Pittman, Kindig recorded two 6-0 periods, giving him a win by technical superiority.
The win earned him a matchup against Jordin Humphrey, who he defeated in two periods, winning, 7-0, 5-3.
In his final match of the day, Kindig faced Brett Robbins of Panther Wrestling Club, and snatched a 4-1, 6-0, win to solidify his spot in the championship bracket.
Action at 66 kg continues tomorrow and will feature Kindig and Cowboy Jordan Oliver, beginning at 10 a.m. CT. Former Cowboys Obe Blanc (55 kg), Coleman Scott (60 kg) and Cayle Byers (96 kg) will begin competition in their respective weight classes as well.
