STILLWATER -
Oklahoma State's women's tennis team lost a tough match to No. 35 Baylor on Sunday afternoon in Stillwater, 5-2.
The Cowgirls (12-7, 4-4 Big 12) gave up the doubles point to start off the match. Malika Rose and Kanyapat Narattana hung with the 19th-ranked doubles team in the nation on court one, but lost in a close match, 8-6. Baylor also defeated Oklahoma State on courts two and three to sweep doubles.
Cowgirl junior Kanyapat Narattana notched the first victory of singles play, dominating her match on five, 6-1, 6-0. The Bears would rattle off three straight victories on courts three, four and one, respectively, to clinch the match. Shortly after, Alex Clay defeated Cowgirl Karyn Guttormsen on six to add to the Baylor lead.
Meghan Blevins recovered from giving up her first set to Baylor's Victoria Kisialeva by winning her second set and tiebreaker to take the match, 1-6, 6-2, 10-8, on court two.
"There were a lot of things to learn from in this match," Cowgirl tennis coach Chris Young said. "It was a tough loss, but we will work hard this week to be ready for Oklahoma next weekend."
The Cowgirls will finish off the regular season next weekend with a Bedlam match against No. 36 Oklahoma in Stillwater on Saturday at 1 p.m.
