LINCOLN, Neb. -
Nick Miller led a trio of top-10 finishes for Oklahoma State on Friday and Saturday in the Frank Sevigne Husker Invite at the Bob Devaney Sports Center in Lincoln, Neb.
On Friday, Miller, who entered the meet ranked No. 3 in the nation in the weight throw, launched the weight 20.97m/68.09.75, which was a personal best and tied for the longest throw of the meet, but No. 4 Jon Lehman of Minnesota had a better second-best throw, giving him the victory in the event over Miller.
“It was great competition, and it was good for him to go head-to-head with a guy like Lehman,” OSU throwing coach John Baumann said. “He beat Jeremy Postin, an All-American out of Florida, so that was really good. Nick knows from here on, he can beat these guys.”
In the women's weight throw, Caitlin Way just missed out on the finals, finishing ninth. She achieved a distance of 17.65m/57-11.00.
On Saturday, in the women's shot put, Chase Ealey also landed a ninth-place finish, heaving the shot a distance of 15.15m/49-08.50.
“All three can build on what happened here,” Baumann said. “We had two just miss out on the finals in one of the biggest indoor meets in the country. It's good for us in the next couple of weeks before the Big 12 meet. It gives them a little taste of what the competition will be like.”
OSU track & field will be back in action Feb. 8-9 at the Husky Invitational in Seattle, Wash., and the Tyson Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark.
