Ten Cowgirls Named Academic All-Big 12

IRVING, Texas - Oklahoma State had 10 players named to the 2013 Academic All-Big 12 Conference soccer team, including nine who earned first-team status, it was announced by the league office today.
Highlighting the list is senior Kristen Kelley, who earned Academic All-Big 12 First Team honors for the third time in her career. Joining Kelley on the first-team list are juniors Baillie Burmaster and George Christie and sophomores Kelsey Bass, Delaney Kiely, Haley Maurice, Madison Mercado, Lauren Reyes and Allie Stephenson. Christie is also a repeat performer as she was named to the first team a year ago.
Also earning honors for the first time in her career was senior Bethany Fields, who was named to the Academic All-Big 12 Second Team.
The 2013 Academic All-Big 12 Soccer Teams consist of 91 student-athletes. First-team members are those who have maintained a 3.20 or better grade point average, while the second team selections hold a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA.
To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in 60 percent of their team's scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.
