IRVING, Texas – Oklahoma State had five players earn 2013 All-Big 12 Conference honors, it was announced by the league office today.
Three Cowgirls – sophomore Allie Stephenson and freshmen Courtney Dike and Natalie Calhoun – were named to the All-Big 12 Second Team, while Dike, Michela Ongaro and Krissi Killion were named to the Big 12 All-Newcomer Team.
In her first collegiate season, Dike has posted impressive numbers from her forward spot. She leads OSU in all three scoring categories – goals, assists and points – and is among the Big 12 leaders as well. Her 11 goals ranks second in the league, her 26 points are third and her four assists are tied for seventh.
A sophomore midfielder, Stephenson ranks in the top 10 in the conference in goals (6), points (15) and shots (54). Three of her goals have been game winners, a total that is tied for third in the Big 12.
Calhoun has started 17-straight games at defender after coming off the bench in the season opener. Along with helping the Cowgirls to four shutouts and a 1.07 goals against average, the Texan tallied a goal in an overtime win at Oklahoma.
OSU's three players on the All-Newcomer Team are tied for the most in program history. The 2005 Cowgirls also had three named to the team.
Ongaro took over starting goalkeeping duties midway through the season and has turned in a 0.75 goals against average and .810 save percentage while recording three of OSU's four shutouts.
Playing alongside Dike at forward, Killion has recorded three goals and three assists in her rookie season, including notching a golden goal in an overtime win at North Texas. She has started all 17 of the games she has played in for the Cowgirls.
All-Big 12 honorees are chosen by the conference's head coaches, who are not allowed to vote for their own players.
