Oklahoma State head coach Mike Gundy
On the crowd
"I'm convinced that our crowd and the sound affected some of the calls they were trying to make when the clock runs down with five or six seconds left because that's how they've done it all year. Our crowd was a factor, and our players played very well. I can't say enough about our team. We have a lot of work ahead of us, but I'm very proud of what our team accomplished tonight."
On Clint Chelf
"He's been good the last few games in what we've asked him to do. We didn't feel like we had as much of an advantage with him running the football in this game with the way that Baylor lines up. Obviously, that was true because he had nine carries for eight yards, but he was really effective in throwing the ball. He was accurate, and he made good decisions. There were times when we when took some lost yardage because he kept it instead of throwing down the middle. I couldn't be more proud of what he's accomplished. He's been a good leader, and he's done it quietly. He's humble. He's had success."
On team leadership
"I think the team likes Clint, and I think they like J.W. (Walsh) because they both have characteristics that people are attracted to. They're unselfish, work hard, they show up early, and they buy into what our team concept is. So they all like them. Clint just happens to be the guy who is playing very well, and that's why he's still playing. I'm happy with the groove he's in right now, and we just want to let him keep going."
On holding Baylor to 17 points
"I thought we had a really good game plan, but their quarterback is a really good player and they have a lot of speed. You put together all three phases of your game plan, and you try to hold them to half of what they averaged. So you say, "Okay, can we hold them to 32 points? If so, can we get seven points in the kicking game?" You have to have enough chunk plays on offense to somehow score 35 points or more against a defense that hasn't given up anywhere near that. That's not something we anticipated, but when you play at home in front of a crowd like this, and you get on a roll, sometimes that can happen. That's the advantage of playing at home."
On Kye Staley
"Kye has been a really good player for us, and you guys know that. His health hasn't been good his first five or six weeks of the season, and it affected some of what we wanted to do on offense. Over the last month, he's gotten healthy. Each week, he's gotten better. There are some advantages in our read-zone packages with him... That's what he did with Clint tonight."
Oklahoma State offensive coordinator Mike Yurcich
On the preparation of the offense:
"This week, we kept repping plays over and over again, and we called them. That's what it takes. They come to work every day and give great effort. It's great to see it transform into production like they did today."
On if the outcome of the game surprised him:
"I never look into a crystal ball. This is a crazy game, and as long as you work hard and put your best foot forward, good things are going to happen. But it's a process, and this coming week and the bye week are a good opportunity for us to improve as an offense. That's how we look at it. Get better every day and every practice, and good things happen."
On wide receiver Josh Stewart:
"He played wonderfully tonight. He missed two (games). You'll take it every day of the week. He played a great game. He made big plays in big situations, and I'm just so happy for him."
Oklahoma State defensive coordinator Glenn Spencer
On the defensive performance:
"Didn't they execute well? They bought in. We had to challenge them. We had to get in their face. We had some different personnel groups, and those guys got in their face. There's a risk that you could give up a big play. But they were focused and played with outrageous effort. They executed this game plan great. They played for each other. As you can tell, I'm pretty proud."
On forcing three turnovers:
"It was all fumbles, no picks. Caleb (Lavey) dropped one. I got on him about that. We work on it, but sometimes they don't happen. (Lavey) had a textbook strip. We work on it and emphasize it. Of course, we had some fourth-down stops, and in our room those count too so I don't think they'll have to run Sunday night. We got our five."
On Tyler Patmon's 78-yard touchdown return:
"We were up 35-10 in the fourth quarter at that point so they must be explosive. I was concerned, too. That was just us being opportunistic. It was one of those nights. We got an opportunistic play and guys were locked in. Good things happened for the guys tonight."
Oklahoma State receiver Charlie Moore
On his feelings after such a big win:
"I just know this is a huge win. I'm so proud of this team, and there's a lot of excitement in the locker room. I can't explain it. I can tell you one thing, though. The feeling that I felt in the locker room after this game was like nothing I have ever felt before. It was awesome."
On showing the country how good the team can be:
"Baylor's a great team. We prepared all week, and we knew they were going to be a challenge. You want to play the best teams in the country and to play them here at home in primetime and on College Gameday is stuff you dream about. They're a great team, and it was a blast playing them."
On the team controlling its own destiny from here on out:
"It always feels good being able to control your own destiny. It's up to us so we have to prepare for OU. They're a great football team. I wouldn't want it any other way."
Oklahoma State fullback Kye Staley
On the team regaining its form after the loss to West Virginia:
"We always knew that it was possible, but it was just a matter of getting back to working hard the way we used to by looking at film and seeing what we were doing wrong. The offense, defense and special teams just kind of came together as a group tonight. I don't know how many games we've won in a row, but we're on a roll. We just can't look ahead and look toward what bowl we're going to go to. OU is our next opponent, and I can't wait to watch film and start game planning on them."
On if tonight's win can be a momentum builder:
"I think so. I feel like we owed them for last year. We got beat down there, and there was a whole lot of trash talking so we felt like we had to show them that we were the most physical team on the field and we showed that. Baylor did an excellent job of game planning us, but we were just a better team tonight."
On the team's physical game plan against Baylor:
"I feel like Baylor hadn't been a part of a cold weather game all year, and it was really cold. As I was talking to my team, I was saying that if we are worrying about weather, we're worrying about the wrong thing. We don't need to be worrying about the weather, we just need to worry about what we do at Oklahoma State. I feel like we dominated on all three phases as it showed on the scoreboard."
Oklahoma State linebacker Caleb Lavey
On where the team can go from here after tonight's win:
"Well, we knew that there was talk of the possibilities of getting toward a Big 12 championship and stuff like that, but we were able to drown it all out and just focus on Baylor and how to shut down their offense."
On the defense being able to stall Baylor's high-powered attack:
"That first drive, they were able to move the ball pretty well, but after that, guys were just stepping up and making plays. Our defensive line did an outstanding job and our secondary was great. With those guys on the field, I had complete confidence that I had 10 guys around me that were going to be able to do their job. That's exactly what they did, and that's how we were able to shut down the offense."
On the team forcing a fumble at the goal line and making big plays on defense:
"It was a huge momentum changer to be able to keep them out of the end zone. We got our offense the ball back, and that's what we're supposed to do on defense. James Castleman came up with a huge play. He was able to stop them on the goal line, and they're a good running team. The defensive line was able to get off the line quick, push them back and force a fumble. That's huge for James and those guys. They really saved us there."
Oklahoma State receiver Tracy Moore
On if the team thought it would be in this position after losing to West Virginia:
"Directly after the game, people kept saying that we could win out and still win the Big 12. That's our goal, but after that game we kind of started to question ourselves. We went to work, though, and told each other that we were going to give it our all. That's working pretty well for us so far."
On the satisfaction of beating a highly-ranked team:
"It's a big relief knowing that our defense is really just that good. Our offense really can't take much of the credit because the defense is doing so well. It feels good, and it's a good thing for the team confidence going forward. Next game should be a good one."
On Clint Chelf's performance tonight:
"Clint was amazing. He was running, throwing and even making a catch. There's not much that kid can't do."
Oklahoma State safety Daytawion Lowe
On what the team was doing to get ready for tonight's game:
"It didn't take anything for us to get pumped up for this. They were the No. 4 team in the nation. If you don't get pumped for that, then I don't know what will."
On if the team was surprised with how well it played tonight:
"We're never really surprised when we play well. That's how we prepare. We prepare to play well, come out here and dominate. They're a great team, though, and they made a lot of great plays. We just played together today, and it was a great team effort on all three phases."
On how the crowd gave the team a significant home-field advantage:
"The crowd really played a great part in this win. They were right there with us. They were like our 12th man out there on the field with us every play. They never stopped going. They kept it coming, and we thank them for that."
Baylor head coach Art Briles
Opening Statement:
"(OSU) played extremely well, played with a lot of energy, made plays when they needed to make plays. We were not successful in our scoring opportunities. They made a few plays on us while we were on defense and they were on offense."
On the game:
"We had three or four fourth down non-conversions, we had Antwan (Goodley) having a touchdown called back for stepping out of bounds, which he did, I actually saw it. You can't do that. You can't do that at home, you can't do it on the road and you can't do it against a good team on the road, and that is what happened tonight. We were not as crisp as we needed to be on the offensive side of the ball. We played well in spurts defensively but gave up some plays, too. I thought our special teams were good, but you combine that with the opponent's backyard and a good football team which they are and you have a chance to have an outcome like we had tonight."
On the stumble by Petty at start of game:
"Well, you feel like things aren't going your way and it's not like those are freakish plays, those were normal every downs plays. So it wasn't like it was something out of the ordinary, we were shocked. It is something you come to expect to work opposite of what happened. That's a little disturbing not sure what to call those. "
Going into Halftime:
"We knew we had to get a stop, which we didn't. Get a stop, get a score get it is a 14-10 game. But we didn't get a stop, and I am not sure what we did the first possession but we didn't score and I think in the first two possessions they scored and it's 28-3 and it's a little different scenario. Everything you had planned coming back from half is thrown out the window. Everything you had planned to scheme and work on is thrown by the waste side."
On the experience of OSU:
"They were Big 12 champs two years ago and have maintained over the last 6-8 years. Without question there are rodeos, and this is not their first one. I think there is a little bit of reality, to it but that being said games are all about momentum and if we put that first one in and go up 7-0 you never know. That is why it is so critical that when you have opportunities you have to make plays."
On the loss:
"None of them feel good (losses) but that is just part of it. Our team has done a great job up to this point so I am proud of them for that, and we will try to start again next Saturday at TCU and get us a win."
Baylor quarterback Bryce Petty
On the outcome of the game:
"We have to finish. Props to them. Coach Gundy did a great job of getting his guys ready, and we have to do the same. I think there were just a couple of little things here and there. And it's always little things that we were just missing here and there. They just happened all at once. We'll bounce back from this. I'm not going anywhere, and we're not going anywhere. We still have a lot to accomplish. It's a loss and a team is not defined by how it wins but by how it loses. We'll be ready to go."
On falling down at the one-yard line and then fumbling later on drive:
"It was big. That's not Shock's (Linwood) fault, that's my fault. My feet just left me a little bit and I have to finish that, and it's not his to finish, especially when Corey (Fuller) and Levi (Norwood) did a great job of blocking those guys. It was a funky deal and that's not his fault, that's my fault."
On how to bounce back for next week:
"This is a great team. This is a special team. Like I said, a loss does not define this team. We have a lot to play for still. Would have this been nice? Sure. But, it's not going to ruin our goal as Big 12 champions. We have to get back right and have a great week of practice. We have to play TCU and beat TCU and then get ready for Texas. But, right now it's about TCU so that's what we have to do."
Baylor linebacker/safety Ahmad Dixon
On how difficult the outcome is:
"This is very difficult. Despite that score, the only number that's in my head is 1939, and 2013 didn't change 1939. This hurts. Our chances of still winning the Big 12 aren't over, but we wanted something bigger than that. We wanted something that's never ever been done before and that was go to a national championship. That dream came down. I promise this next one won't crash down on us."
On if they were surprised by how the game played out:
"This is something that we did not prepare for. This is not the type of game we prepared for. We knew it was going to be tough, and it was going to be a dog fight. We knew all of that. We never thought this would be the outcome. Not for a second. Not even when they went up 35-3, we still had faith in our offense to get going and score. Things happen. We're going to learn from this and move forward."
On Clint Chelf's performance:
"I wasn't surprised. They executed. When you execute that's what happens. You look like you're that good. When you execute the way that they did tonight, you have no choice but to put up good numbers and come out with a `W'. It's simple as that."
Oklahoma State head coach Mike Gundy
On the crowd
"I'm convinced that our crowd and the sound affected some of the calls they were trying to make when the clock runs down with five or six seconds left because that's how they've done it all year.
