Oklahoma State Postgame Notes vs. Texas Tech
Jones AT&T Stadium | Lubbock, Texas | Nov. 2, 2013
:: Serving as Oklahoma State captains for today's game were Parker Graham, Brandon Webb, Zack Craig and Ashton Lampkin.
:: The Oklahoma State offense used the same starting lineup in consecutive weeks for the first time this season.
:: Linebacker Shaun Lewis made his team-high 40th consecutive start this week.
:: The Cowboys have won five straight over the Red Raiders and three straight in Lubbock. OSU's two most recent trips to Jones AT&T Stadium resulted in a 34-17 win in 2010 and a 66-6 win in 2011.
::The win tonight marked the first time Oklahoma State has scored 50 points in consecutive road games in school history.
:: OSU is the first team to win three straight games over Texas Tech in Lubbock since Nebraska in 1994, 1996 and 2000.
:: The Cowboys now hold the longest winning streak (five) for either team in the all-time series between the Cowboys and Red Raiders, surpassing the previous mark of four set by OSU from 1945-49 and by Texas Tech from 1989-98.
:: Oklahoma State is now 7-1 on the year, marking the fourth time in the last six seasons that OSU has started the season with a 7-1 record or better through its first eight games. Prior to Mike Gundy taking the head coaching position at OSU, the Cowboys had only five 7-1 starts between 1945 and 2005.
:: The Cowboys are now 7-3 in their last 10 games against ranked opponents, and 4-3 in their last seven games played against ranked opponents away from Boone Pickens Stadium.
:: OSU is now 10-1 in its last 11 games in the state of Texas.
:: Texas Tech entered the game holding opponents to 379 total yards per game. Today, the Cowboys tallied 492 yards.
:: OSU has scored 20 or more points in 47 consecutive games dating back to the start of the 2010 season. That streak is the second-longest since Division I split into the FBS/FCS in 1978, trailing only USC's 63 straight games of 20 or more points from Sept. 2, 2002 through Nov. 25, 2006.
:: Texas Tech's opening drive resulted in a three-and-out, marking the seventh-consecutive game Oklahoma State has held its opponent scoreless on its opening drive.
:: The Oklahoma State defense has forced at least one turnover in 16 consecutive games.
:: OSU has now scored on a drive of less than two minutes in 30 consecutive games and in 46 of the past 47 games.
:: Derek Branson's blocked punt in the first quarter was OSU's first OSU's punt block since Zack Craig blocked two punt against Texas Tech last year.
:: That block was OSU's third kick block of the season. The Cowboys have now blocked a punt (Branson at Texas Tech), field goal (James Castleman at West Virginia) and PAT (Castleman at Iowa State). Last year's team also blocked three kicks, ranking as the eighth-most in a season in school history.
:: The Cowboys put 21 points on the board in the first quarter alone. That marked the fifth time this season OSU has scored 21 points in a quarter.
:: OSU's 21-point opening quarter was the most points Texas Tech has allowed in a quarter this year. The previous high was 14 points. The Cowboys also scored more total points than any other TTU opponent this year.
:: Jeremy Seaton now has three career touchdown receptions on seven catches.
:: Texas Tech entered the game ranked 26th nationally in scoring defense, allowing just 21.1 points per game. The Cowboys passed that mark with more than 10 minutes left in the second quarter.
:: Shaun Lewis's second-quarter interception was the 14th takeaway of his career. He now has eight interceptions and six fumble recoveries. He has also forced six fumbles. It was his third interception of the season.
:: Desmond Roland scored three touchdowns today for a total of seven in the past two games.
:: Josh Stewart's 46-yard punt return in the third quarter was his fourth punt return of at least 40 yards this season and his sixth of at least 20 yards. He entered the game ranked second nationally in yards per return at 20.1.
:: Clint Chelf's 67-yard touchdown run in the third quarter was OSU's longest rush of the season and the longest of Chelf's career. It was the longest rush Texas Tech has allowed since Kansas' Tony Pierson had a 69-yard scamper in 2012.
:: Chelf's 67-yard rush was longest by an OSU quarterback since at least 1982.
:: Caleb Lavey's third quarter interception was the fourth interception of his career and his third of the season. He is averaging one takeaway per game over the past five games.
