Collica, Crutchmer and Schafer Win UCM Open Titles

WARRENSBURG, Mo. – While Cowboy wrestling's starting 10 were grappling against Bucknell in Stillwater on Sunday, several other Cowboy wrestlers competed at the University of Central Missouri Open in Warrensburg, Mo.
The tourney was highlighted by first-place finishes from Anthony Collica (141), Kyle Crutchmer (184) and Austin Schafer (197).
Collica earned four wins with bonus points attached, including an 11-second fall over Lavion Mayes in the championship bout. The tournament win marks his second of the year in just as many tries.
At 184 pounds, Crutchmer met his teammate Jordan Rogers in the finals, where he walked away with a 4-3 win.
Schafer had a strong showing, pinning two of his four opponents of the day and picking up a 10-2 major decision over Tanner Kriss of Fort Hays State to earn the title at 197 pounds.
Redshirt freshman Connor Cline finished the tournament with a runner-up finish at 125 pounds, while a handful of Cowboys finished third at their respective weight classes, including Eli Hale (125), Dean Heil (133), Davey Dolan (141) and Chris Koo (157).
Other wrestlers representing the Pokes in Warrensburg were Zac Gentzler and Gunnar Woodburn at 125 pounds, Brian Crutchmer and Lincoln Lemon at 133 pounds, and Michael Martin at 141 pounds.
