Oklahoma State Postgame Notes vs. Texas
DKR Texas Memorial Stadium | Austin, Texas | Nov. 16, 2013
:: Serving as Oklahoma State captains for today's game were Calvin Barnett, Desmond Roland, Charlie Moore and John Goodlett.
:: Receiver David Glidden earned his first career start. This season, 13 players have made their first career starts in an OSU uniform.
An Oklahoma State Win Today:
::Marked the Cowboys' third straight win over Texas in Austin, making Oklahoma State the first team to beat the Longhorns on their home field three consecutive times since Colorado did it in 1990, 1994 and 1997. Colorado and Texas A&M (1984, 1986 and 1988) are the only two schools to beat Texas on three consecutive trips into Austin since 1940.
:: The Cowboys are 11-1 in their last 12 games played in the state of Texas, dating back to 2010.
:: OSU is 8-3 in its last 11 games against ranked opponents and is 5-3 in its last eight games played against ranked opponents away from Boone Pickens Stadium.
:: Oklahoma State has won six straight Big 12 games, marking only the second time in school history that Oklahoma State has won six straight conference games. The Cowboys won 10 straight Missouri Valley Conference games from 1929-34 and seven straight Big 12 games in 2011.
:: OSU is 9-1 on the year, marking the third time in the last four seasons that OSU has started with a 9-1 record or better through its first 10 games. Prior to Mike Gundy taking the head coaching position at OSU in 2005, the Cowboys had only one 9-1 start in 102 seasons of football - 1985. It should be noted, however, that the 1945 OSU team finished the season with a 9-0-0 record.
:: This is the fourth time in school history OSU has won at least six conference games, all of which came under Mike Gundy (2009, 2010, 2011 and 2013).
:: The Oklahoma State defense forced a Texas punt on its opening drive. That marked the ninth consecutive game the Cowboys have held their opponent scoreless on their first possession.
:: OSU has now scored on a drive of less than two minutes in 32 consecutive games and in 48 of the past 49 games.
:: OSU has scored 20 or more points in 49 consecutive games dating back to the start of the 2010 season. That streak is the second-longest since Division I split into the FBS/FCS in 1978, trailing only USC's 63 straight games of 20 or more points from Sept. 2, 2002 through Nov. 25, 2006.
:: Justin Gilbert's interception return for a touchdown in the second quarter marked the second interception return for a score of the season for Gilbert. It was the eighth non-offensive touchdown of his career. He also had a pick six at Iowa State.
:: Gilbert has 109 interception return yards this season, ranking as the ninth-highest total in a single season in school history. It is the most since Darrent Williams racked up 130 yards in 2003.
:: Gilbert's two interception return scores this year are tied for the most in one season in school history. Those two are also enough to tie him for fourth place on the school list for career interception return touchdowns. He ranks ninth in school history in career interception return yards with 166.
:: Oklahoma State has now scored six non-offensive touchdowns this season, including three by Gilbert. OSU has scored a touchdown on a kickoff return (Justin Gilbert vs. Kansas), two punt returns (both by Josh Stewart), two interception returns (both by Gilbert) and a fumble return (Tyler Johnson at Iowa State). The Cowboys have scored 24 non-offensive touchdowns since the start of the 2010 season.
:: Gilbert's two interceptions today were the 10th and 11th interceptions of his career. He entered the game ranked 15th among all active players in career interceptions. He is the first Cowboy to record a multiple interception game since Andre Sexton against Mississippi in the 2010 Cotton Bowl.
:: Gilbert's 11 career interceptions rank 10th in school history and his six this season rank tied for eighth.
:: The Oklahoma State defense has forced at least one turnover in 18 consecutive games.
:: Caleb Lavey's third quarter interception was his fourth of the season and the fifth of his career.
