STILLWATER, Okla. – Oklahoma State freshman forward Courtney Dike picked up several honors today as she was named the Big 12 Conference Offensive Player and Newcomer of the Week by the league office and was also recognized as the Big 12 Player of the Week by College Sports Madness.
This marks the second time Dike has earned both Big 12 Offensive Player and Newcomer of the Week honors along with College Sports Madness player of the week honors as she also received that distinction on Sept. 3.
Dike helped Oklahoma State extend its unbeaten streak to five games last weekend as she scored in both of the Cowgirls' matches. On Friday night against 25th-ranked Texas, she played 103 minutes and had OSU's only goal in a 1-1 tie. She followed that with an effort against Missouri State on Sunday that saw her record an assist on OSU's first goal before netting the Cowgirls' final two goals in a 3-1 win. The effort marked her third multi-goal game of the season, making her the first OSU player to achieve that feat since 2010.
Of Dike's five shots on the weekend, four were on goal. Following her high-scoring weekend, Dike raised her season goal total to 11, which is tied for most in the Big 12, and she now ranks third in the conference with 25 points.
Dike and the Cowgirls will be in action again this weekend as they take on Baylor Friday night in Waco, Texas, before their final regular-season home game Sunday against Kansas.
