Dieringer Eliminated in Thailand

PATTAYA, Thailand—Oklahoma State wrestler Alex Dieringer was eliminated at the FILA Junior World Championship Saturday morning after splitting a pair of bouts.

Representing the U.S. in the 74kg freestyle bracket, Dieringer picked up a fall over Pasawang Tadsapol of Thailand in just 24 seconds in his first-round match.

Dieringer's victory moved him into the second round, where he faced 2011 Junior World silver medalist Abdulkadir Ozmen of Turkey. Ozmen moved on after winning the first two periods, 5-0, 3-2.

Dieringer was eventually eliminated from the competition when Ozmen was pinned in the semifinals by Gadzhi Sharipov of Azerbaijan.

As a redshirt last season, Dieringer compiled a 17-1 record competing for OSU in open tournaments at 157 pounds.
