STILLWATER - The Oklahoma State men's and women's cross country teams return home Saturday to compete in the annual Cowboy Jamboree. We decided to get Oshawa, Canada, native Victoria Hanna's insight on the Jamboree and what it means to the athletes competing.
What are the advantages of having a race at home?
"The biggest advantage is that you already know the course, so it is nice to have a heads up as far as what to expect. There won't be any surprises, which is nice. Another advantage is that I enjoy knowing I have the home crowd. A lot of people will be out there supporting."
What does running in the Cowboy Jamboree mean to you?
"It means a lot. I really like it. I think it is a great meet for us. It is one where we can all get together and have fun with it."
What is your favorite Jamboree moment?
"I think probably crossing that finish line because there are a lot of hills right before you get there."
How do you use the Jamboree as a measuring stick for future meets?
"I think that if you feel strong in the Jamboree, it is always a good sign. Like I said, it is a hard course with a lot of hills, so if you can make it thought that and feel strong, you can be pretty confident that your season is going to be a good one."
What is the atmosphere like at the Jamboree?
"It is awesome! I really like it. There are a lot of people cheering you on and a lot of people that you know are there. It is just a lot of support; it is great."
