Brown On Thorpe Award Preseason Watch List

STILLWATER, Okla. - Oklahoma State cornerback Brodrick Brown is one of 34 players on the preseason watch list for the 2012 Jim Thorpe Award presented to the nation's top defensive back, it was announced today.
Brown was a semifinalist for the Thorpe Award as a junior in 2011 and is a regular on preseason watch lists this year, as he appears on the lists for the Bronko Nagurski Trophy presented to the nation's top defensive player by the Football Writers Association of America and the Bednarik Award, presented to the nation's top defensive player by the Maxwell Football Club.
An All-Big 12 first-team selection by both the coaches and the Associated Press in 2011, Brown was also a third-team All-American by the Associated Press and was a second-team All-American by SI.com.
Brown ranked second in the Big 12 and 14th nationally with five interceptions last year. His 1.54 passes defended per game ranked him third in the nation. He was one of the most prominent players on a Cowboy defense that led the Big 12 in scoring defense in conference games, led the nation in turnovers forced, led the Big 12 and ranked 12th nationally in red zone defense and was second in the Big 12 and 20th nationally in pass efficiency defense.
