Piliusina Advances at European Championships

HELSINKI, Finland – Oklahoma State track sophomore track runner Natalja Piliusina advanced to the final race in the 800 meters today at the European Athletic Championships after setting a new school record and personal best in the event.

Piliusina, of Kaunus, Lithuania, ran a 2:02.12 to place third in her heat and eighth overall. A field of 18 athletes was broken into three heats, with the top two finishers in each heat advancing automatically, along with the two next fastest times from all of the remaining competitors.

Running against some of the best runners Europe has to offer, Piliusina qualified for the last spot in tomorrow's 800 meter final, which will be run on Friday at 1:45 p.m. CT.
