OSU Track Has Big Weekend at Stanford Invitational

PALO ALTO, Calif. – The Oklahoma State track and field program finished up competition on Saturday at the Stanford Invitational after an impressive showing at the meet.
Cowgirl sophomore Natalja Piliusina had an impressive outing with two top-three finishes. On Friday, Piliusina finished second in the top section of the 1,500 meters after running a 4:14.35, which stands as the second-best time in the OSU record book. Her time leads the nation and is sixth in the world.
On Saturday, she came back and ran a 2:04.01 in the 800 meters to place third. She currently holds the second-best time nationally in the event.
Caileigh Glenn also ran well, starting with a 4:24.97 in the 1,500 meters on Friday, which is the ninth-fastest time at OSU. On Saturday, she ran a 2:10.75 in the 800 meters, which is also the ninth-best effort in OSU history.
Kate Kujawa placed fourth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase after clocking a 10:27.15, which stands as the fifth-fastest time in Cowgirl history.
For the Cowboys, junior Raul Botezan ran a 3:43.73 in the 1,500 meters, about a second off of his personal best time. Kirubel Erassa ran a 3:44.38, which stands as the 10th-best time in OSU history for the 1,500 meters.
In the 5,000 meters, Girma Mecheso ran a 13:34.83 to place ninth, which is the third-fastest time in OSU history. Shadrack Kipchirchir finished the race in 13:54.82 to set the 10th-best time at OSU.
Taylor Monaghan placed sixth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 8:58.28, which is the 10th all-time at OSU.
OSU will return to action next Saturday, April 14, when it travels south to Norman for the John Jacobs Invitational.
