Five Wrestlers Receive Big 12 Academic Honor

STILLWATER, Okla. – Five Oklahoma State wrestlers were honored by the Big 12 for their work in the classroom this year, as Cayle Byers, Elliott Hellwege, Dallas Bailey, Chris Perry and Blake Rosholt were named to the 2012 Academic All-Big12 Wrestling Team, the conference announced this week.
Byers and Hellwege received recognition as first team honorees, while Bailey, Perry and Rosholt were named to the second team.
It marks the second-consecutive year Perry and Bailey have been named to the squad, with Byers, Hellwege and Rosholt receiving their first honors.
The 2012 team consisted of 20 student athletes, including seven first team honorees and 13 second team members.
First team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.20 or better GPA while the second team selections hold a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA.
To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in 60 percent of their team's scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.
