Cowboys Drop Match Against East Carolina

BRADENTON, Fla. - Oklahoma State's men's golf team suffered a 3.5-1.5 loss to East Carolina on Monday in the consolation bracket at the Callaway Collegiate Match Play Championship at The Concession Golf Club.
For the fourth-seeded Cowboys, the loss to the No. 9 seed Pirates dropped them to 1-2 in the event.
ECU picked up wins at the top two positions with Harold Varner knocking off OSU sophomore Talor Gooch, 4 and 2, and Adam Stephenson defeating junior Sean Einhaus, 4 and 3.
In the third match, Cowboy sophomore Brad Gehl halved his match with David Watkins to earn a half point.
The Pirates clinched the match with a 2-and-1 victory from Ryan Eibner over redshirt freshman Patrick Winther.
OSU got its lone victory of the day from freshman Tanner Kesterson, who claimed a 2-up win over Eric Brady.
The Cowboys will close out the event tomorrow in the seventh-place match against Tennessee.
