Cowboys Finish Ninth In Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS - Oklahoma State's men's golf team posted a closing 302 during the third round of the Southern Highlands Collegiate Masters on Sunday to move into a tie for ninth place at Southern Highlands Golf Club.
After starting the day in 13th, the Cowboys' 14-over score gave them a three-day total of 896, 32-over, and knotted them with Florida and Alabama. UNLV posted a 293 to finish at 872 and one shot clear of California at the par-72, 7,510-yard layout.
The Rebels also provided the event's individual champion in Blake Biddle, who carded a 69 during his final round to finish at 212 and with a two-shot victory.
Patrick Winther capped his first start for the Cowboys with a top-20 finish. The redshirt freshman posted a 75 on Sunday to finish at 221 and alone in 14th place.
Sophomore Talor Gooch also finished among the top 20, tying for 15th place after closing with a 77 for a 221 total.
Sophomore Brad Gehl fired the squad's low round of the day with a 74 to finish tied for 46th place at 228.
Junior Sean Einhaus finished at 230 and tied for 52nd place after signing for a 76 during his final round, while sophomore Ian Davis finished 70th after an 85 during his third round gave him a 243 total.
The Cowboys will return to action on March 18 when they travel to Sarasota, Fla., for the Callaway Collegiate Match Play Championship.
