COLUMBIA, Mo. - Oklahoma State's women's basketball team hung on down the stretch to log its first Big 12 road victory of the season, defeating Missouri 62-58 on Saturday afternoon in front of 3,015 fans inside Mizzou Arena.
The win snapped an 11-game Big 12 road losing streak with the Cowgirls' last conference win away from home coming on Feb. 28, 2010 at Texas Tech. OSU is now 11-4 overall and 3-3 in league play, while the Tigers fell to 10-7 and 0-6.
The Cowgirls got out of the gate slowly, missing their first five shots, but heated up quickly by hitting seven of their next 10 to lead 17-10. OSU bumped its lead into double figures at 23-13 with 7:23 to go before the Tigers used a 13-0 run over the next three minutes to jump in front by three.
Cowgirl junior Toni Young reeled off seven-straight points to but OSU back in front and send the Cowgirls into the break with a 32-30 lead.
In the second half, junior Lindsey Keller buried three 3-pointers in the first seven minutes to put OSU in front by 11 at 47-36.
However, the Tigers came storming back and cut the margin to one with six minutes remaining on when Bailey Gee drew a foul on a layup and converted the free throw.
Neither team made a field goal over the final six minutes with the game's final 12 points coming on free throws.
With 13 seconds remaining and OSU leading 60-58, freshman Liz Donohoe grabbed an offensive rebound on a missed free throw and drew a foul before knocking down a pair of free throws of her own to put the game away.
Donohoe and Keller led the Cowgirls with 13 points apiece and were joined in double figures by sophomore Tiffany Bias, who finished with 12 points, and Young, who finished with 10 points.
The Cowgirls will return to action on Jan 24 when they host Texas A&M at 7 p.m. in Stillwater.
