Oklahoma State Head Coach Jim Littell
Opening Statement
“I just got through telling our team that I think this is year 34 for me and I've never never been more proud of a group. The way they competed and the way they fought and how resilient they were. I think we were down 11 and the kids just kept believing in each other and making plays. Jenni Bryan brought an extreme toughness to the game and I thought she did a great job defending (Whitney) Hand down there the last ten minutes of the game. I thought that is what turned it around. When Tiffany Bias plays like this andis that explosive off the dribble and creates a lot of things for others, she is a really special player. I thought she stepped her game up tonight. We challenged the kids before the game, "if you haven't played like you are capable of playing, this is your time to step up and take your game to a new level," and I think our kids did that today.”
On The Game-Winning Three Point Shot
“We called a chase look and that gives us three or four options where Tiffany comes off the high ball screen and Lindsay Keller comes off a pick and pop going to the left side and we had Jenni on the right wing and if she was covered we could have thrown it inside. The kids ran what was drawn up to perfection.”
On Enjoying This Victory
“This is one game and here comes another one right down the road. What you have to do in this league is you can't pat yourself on the back very long and you can't stay down when you've had a bad outing. We played poorly the second half at Baylor and came back today, so that's what it's about. We're going to enjoy this one today and then we're going to go back and get ready for the next one. There are a lot of highs and lows in this league and how you handle adversity kind of defines who you are.”
On OU Coach Sherri Coale
“I want to comment on Sherri Coale. She has texted me a lot, she's called, she's been a good friend and I think this is one game that is important to keep it in context. They have had our number for a long time, so it's big for our kids. I want to mention her name in the fact that she has been good to me during the tragedy and during this situation.”
Jenni Bryan
On Getting The Opportunity To Play
“As a player you have your ups and downs and I just kept getting in the gym and kept working and he had faith in me and put me in the game and I just stepped up.”
On The Game-Winning Three Point Shot
“Before she (Tiffany Bias) passed it to me I said, "I better hit this," because I would let her down and I didn't want to do that.”
Tiffany Bias
On The Defensive Play At The End Of The Game
“It was a close game so you have to put the defensive pressure on; you can't relax and let them bring it up and slow down the clock and let time click off. I just went back to my old ways with fundamentals; get down low, play defense and make them turn. It's winding down and the game is on the line so you really need to make a move.”
Oklahoma Head Coach Sherri Coale
On Not Getting Good Shots
"We didn't move. You have to move without the basketball. We didn't move all night. We didn't change sides of the floor with the ball, our posts didn't finish very well. I think a lot of that was self imposed."
On Her Reaction To The Game
"It's a little bit like our Tech game was just the other night and you look up and you go, 'How did we just do that?' We looked up today and went, 'How did we just do that?' It's just a different ending. We lead the entire game and had opportunities to put them away in both halves and didn't seize those opportunities, and then we imploded down the stretch. That part of it - we're young, we're on the road, we're learning how to compete on the road in the Big 12 - it's the earlier part. You have an opportunity to put them away and you don't, that's the part that troubles me."
On How The Team Moves On
"It's just a long, long road. Just as you can't stand around and dance about a victory for two or three days when you get one, you can't roll around and wallow in a loss when you have one of those, too. It's the next play, it's the next game. It's a long road, and there will be a lot of highs and lows and you have to endure it."
Whitney Hand
On The Offensive Struggles
"We could have gotten good shots. We just didn't play with each other, I feel like. We weren't us tonight."
On If They Thought They Weathered The Storm and Relaxed
"I don't think you can ever think you've weathered it on the road in the Big 12. Kind of like the Tech game, we scored nine points in about a minute, and (OSU) did the same thing. I don't feel like we relaxed, I just feel like they wanted it a little more at the end, and that hurts us as a team."
Joanna McFarland
On Being Defended Differently In The Second Half
"Our offense was stagnant. We weren't really moving or doing anything to get good shots for each other."
