STILLWATER, Okla. – As the end of the second month of the fall semester nears, four of Oklahoma State's athletic programs are ranked in the top five of their respective polls, with a fifth team ranked in the top 25.
The two-time defending national champion men's cross country team began the season ranked atop the polls and has remained there all season. The Cowboys secured a victory on Sept. 3 at the Hurricane Festival with a 3-0 dual record.
They will return to action this weekend as they host the Cowboy Jamboree at the OSU Cross Country Course in Stillwater. The women's team, who also took first place at the Hurricane Festival with a 5-0 dual record, is ranked No. 22 and will look to climb in the rankings with a strong performance at the Jamboree.
The OSU soccer team has risen all the way to No. 2 in the polls. The Cowgirls are off to the best start in team history, as they boast a 13-0-0 record and a 2-0-0 record in conference play. They are one of two unbeaten and untied teams in Division I and will take their untarnished record to Norman on Friday night for the second Bedlam battle this season.
The second-ranked men's golf team has two top-five finishes in its first two events of the season. They began the season by tying for second place at the Olympia Fields/Fighting Illini Invitational and finished third at the Golfweek Conference Challenge this week. They will play again at the Jack Nicklaus Invitational on Oct. 10 and 11.
After one of the landmark victories under the direction of coach Mike Gundy, the OSU football team jumped to No. 5 in the latest AP poll.
The Cowboys are fresh off a 30-29 win at Kyle Field against No. 8 Texas A&M, after trailing 20-3 at halftime. The Cowboys are 4-0 on the season and will have a chance to rest this weekend, as they don't play again until a home matchup against Kansas on Oct. 8.
