BURLINGTON, Iowa - Oklahoma State's men's golf team opened play at the Golfweek Conference Challenge on Sunday with a 283 to stand in a tie for third place at Spirit Hollow Golf Course.
The Cowboys' 5-under total deadlocked them with Iowa at the par-72, 7,010-yard layout. The two teams are three shots behind second-place Arkansas and four back of tournament leader Chattanooga, which opened with a 9-under 279.
Chattanooga's Stephan Jaeger fired a 5-under 67 to lead the individual race over a quartet of players that includes OSU's Sean Einhaus.
The Cowboy junior fired a 4-under 68 that included seven birdies. Einhaus made the turn at 1-over par after carding a pair of bogeys to go with a birdie at the third. However, the Borken, Germany native blistered his inward nine with a 5-under 31. After stringing together birdies at the 11th, 12th and 13th, Einhaus followed a bogey at the 15th with three more birdies to close his round.
Sophomore Talor Gooch and junior Drew Page also finished under par for the day with both players signing for 1-under 71s. The duo will begin tomorrow's second round tied for 17th.
Sophomore Kevin Dougherty posted a 73 and finished tied for 29th, while sophomore Ian Davis carded a 78 to stand in 65th place.
The Cowboys will begin their second round tomorrow at 9:45 a.m. and will be grouped with Georgia Tech and Iowa.
