Cowboys Tie For Second At Olympia Fields

OLYMPIA FIELDS, Ill. - Oklahoma State's men's golf team posted a 295 during its final round at the Olympia Fields/Fighting Illini Invitational on Sunday to tie for second place in its season-opening event at Olympia Fields Country Club.
The Cowboys' 15-over score gave them a 54-hole total of 865, 25-over par, and tied them with Auburn at the par-70, 7,142-yard layout. Stanford cruised to the team title, posting a closing 290 to come in at 849.
The Cardinal also produced the event's medalist as Patrick Rodgers closed with a 68 to finish at 206 and three shots clear of the field.
For OSU, Drew Page earned his first career top-five finish, tying for fifth place at 4-over 214. The junior posted a 2-over 72 to move up two spots on the leaderboard. Page carded a 2-over 37 on his front side that included a pair of birdies before adding two more birdies on Nos. 16 and 17 en route to an even-par back nine to seal his best career finish.
Junior Sean Einhaus tied for 15th after closing with a 76 to finish at 217, while sophomore Talor Gooch's second-straight 74 tied him for 25th at 220.
Sophomore Kevin Dougherty posted a 73 to finish in a tie for 33rd place at 222.
Senior Peter Uihlein tied for 41st place at 224 after signing for a 79 during his final round.
The Cowboys will be back in action on Sept. 25 when they begin play at the Golfweek Conference Challenge.
