STILLWATER, Okla. - The Oklahoma State football team practiced Sunday wearing shoulder pads for the first time under cloudy and warm conditions on the grass practice fields adjacent to Gallagher-Iba Arena.
Reigning Big 12 Coach of the Year Mike Gundy commented after Sunday's action.
"I thought today's practice was average. Our guys have to move around better," Gundy said. "Our tempo on offense wasn't as good as it needs to be. Defensively, our mental approach wasn't as good as it needs to be. There is some adjustment based on putting pads on for the first time, but we should be more mature than that and get more out of practice.
"I do think that we ran the ball effectively and I think the secondary showed signs of their maturity by being in the right spot at the right time. Overall, that wasn't the type of practice we need to be successful early in our schedule so I would fully expect to get much better tomorrow."
The Cowboys are scheduled to be back on the practice fields at 7:30 a.m. Monday.
