STILLWATER, Okla. - The Oklahoma State football team practiced for nearly three hours dressed in full pads Friday morning on the grass practice fields adjacent to Gallagher-Iba Arena. After practice, offensive coordinator Todd Monken and offensive lineman Lane Taylor talked about the Cowboy defense from an offensive perspective:
Offensive Coordinator Todd Monken
On what catches his eye about the OSU defense after facing it in practice:
"Our secondary shows up. You have the most experience back there with guys like Brodrick Brown, Justin Gilbert, Markelle Martin and Johnny Thomas. Those guys show up a bunch. Shaun Lewis at linebacker and Nigel Nicholas at defensive tackle as well. Those are the guys that seem to show up the most."
Offensive Lineman Lane Taylor
On who is difficult to go against in practice:
"Nigel Nicholas does well consistently. He challenges me and makes me a better player by having tough competition to go against."
On facing the Cowboy defensive line:
"The defensive line is starting to become a solid group. Before, guys weren't necessarily together, but they're really starting to learn their stuff and become a solid unit."
On his confidence in the defensive line after blocking against it in practice:
"They'll step up and rise to the challenge this year. I expect this defensive line to be able to stuff the run."
