LONG BEACH, Calif. - TopDrawerSoccer.com released its 2011 Women's National Top 100 Upperclassmen rankings Monday, and four Oklahoma State players made the list.
Junior goalkeeper AD Franch was the highest ranked Cowgirl as she occupied the 14th spot, while seniors Krista Lopez (55), Melinda Mercado (68) and Kyndall Treadwell (82) rounded out the OSU quartet.
Franch enters the 2011 season with 20 career shutouts, one shy of the school record. The Salina, Kan. native is coming off a season in which she earned All-America and All-Big 12 First Team honors and was also a semifinalist for the Hermann Trophy. She led the conference with nine shutouts last season and also ranked second in goals against average (0.73) and save percentage (.826).
Lopez had a breakout junior season for OSU in 2010. She racked up 15 goals, the second most in a single season in school history, and added five assists to finish with 35 points. Her 15 goals ranked second in the Big 12 and ninth nationally, and seven of her goals were game winners.
The Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year in 2010, Mercado anchored a defense that led the league in goals against average (0.79) while ranking second in goals allowed (21) and shutouts (10). She started every game at defender and played the most minutes of any Cowgirl last season.
Treadwell is coming off a season that saw her pick up All-Big 12 First Team honors for the first time in her career. She finished the year with four goals, three of them game winners, and added four assists for the top-scoring team in the conference. The forward enters her final collegiate season with 16 goals and 14 assists.
