STILLWATER, Okla. - The Oklahoma State football team practiced dressed in full pads Wednesday morning in Boone Pickens Stadium in cloudy conditions. After practice, offensive coordinator Todd Monken shared his thoughts:
On what he saw from the Cowboy offense Wednesday:
"The biggest thing we're stressing to our guys is taking care of the little things. Focusing on turnovers, missed assignments and foolish penalties. I think we've got enough talent to have a great year on offense is we take care of the little things. We've got all the big parts. We've got all the things that are hard, now we just have to take care of the little things. When we do that, we'll be fine."
On the chemistry between QB Brandon Weeden and WR Justin Blackmon:
"I think that happens when you have a really good player at receiver and a really good quarterback. Everybody says `oh, that's chemistry' and it's true, but when you throw to a guy a lot, you kind of build up that chemistry and they've been around a couple years now and the more they work together, they build that chemistry and there is trust there. That comes more from the quarterback, because the receiver always seems to run that route, but whether or not the quarterback knows exactly when he's making his break and being able to throw the ball on time."
On what makes RB Joseph Randle special:
"Joseph Randle is a really good athlete. He's a really good competitor and he's really smart, football-wise, so he picks things up really quickly. All those things combined makes him what he is, which is a really good athlete that can do a number of things for you."
On the comfort of having a veteran offensive line:
"They're guys who have played a lot of football so they're very confident. They're fun to be around. They're relaxed, but when the lights come on and practice starts, they're all business, they work hard at it, they're competitive and they're prideful guys. They're fun to be around and they're really confident."
