FAR HILLS, N.J. - For the second time in his career, Oklahoma State's Peter Uihlein has been named to the United States Walker Cup squad by the International Team Selection Committee of the United States Golf Association.
Uihlein was one of four players named this week to the 10-player squad and was joined by Patrick Cantlay, Harris English and Russell Henley.
OSU's rising senior and reigning U.S. Amateur champion went 4-0-0 two years ago in Walker Cup action at Merion Golf Club in Ardmore, Pa. Uihlein's extensive resume includes winning the 2011 Ben Hogan Award as well as being named the Big 12 Player of the Year and a first-team All-American as a junior. This summer, he won the Northeast Amateur and made the cut at the British Open last month.
Uihlein also represented the U.S. at the World Amateur Team Championship last fall and was a member of the American squad at the Copa de las Americas in 2010.
The 2011 Walker Cup Match will be played Sept. 10-11 at Royal Aberdeen Golf Club in Aberdeen, Scotland.
