STILLWATER, Okla. - After a fan vote pushed the Oklahoma State duo of Brodrick Brown and Shaun Lewis into the round of eight in the Best Play award bracket for next week's ESPY Awards, the Cowboy duo now looks to earn a spot in the finals and once again, a fan vote will determine its fate.
Brown and Lewis garnered national attention after teaming up for what was judged as college football's play of the year in 2010. The play developed when defensive end Richetti Jones flushed Oklahoma quarterback Landry Jones to his right with pressure off the edge. Frantically scrambling to the sideline and in danger of taking a sack, Jones tried to sail the ball into the Sooner bench and safely out of play. Brown had other ideas, however, exploding airborne and fully extending his five-foot-eight inch frame to intentionally deflect the pass into the opportunistic arms of Lewis.
Fans have the chance to select the finalists and winners by voting online at espn.com/espys. The top plays are seeded and placed into a bracket for fans to vote for their favorites. They will be narrowed down until the final four plays remain which will be revealed during the ESPYs Countdown show on July 13th on ESPN. Fans will continue to vote for the four finalists leading up to and during the live show and the winner will be announced on stage.
