Cowboys Complete Run At Trans-Miss

MISSION HILLS, Kan. - With seven OSU-affiliated players competing this week at The Open Championship in England, the Cowboy golf team also had seven players in action at the 108th Trans-Mississippi Amateur at Kansas City Country Club.
Incoming freshman Tanner Kesterson was the top finisher among the group, tying for second place at 10-under 270. Kesterson posted four consecutive rounds in the 60s during the event to come in four shots behind Kelly Kraft. After rounds of 68 and 67, he closed with a 66 and 69 to tie Texas' Dylan Frittelli.
Joining Kesterson in the top five was rising sophomore Brad Gehl, who tied for fifth place at 8-under 272. The Carmel, Ind., native bounced back from an opening 74 with a 66 and 65 during rounds two and three, respectively, before closing with a 67.
Sophomore-to-be Ian Davis finished 22nd at 279, while former Cowboy Mark Johnson tied for 23rd place at 280.
Rising sophomores Kevin Dougherty and Talor Gooch also competed. Dougherty tied for 25th at 281 and Gooch tied for 43rd place at 285.
Rising sophomore Karsten Majors missed the 36-hole cut after posting rounds of 77 and 75.
