STILLWATER, Okla. - Oklahoma State football players Levy Adcock and Shaun Lewis have been named to the Official Watch List for the 2011 Rotary Lombardi Award, the Rotary Lombardi Award Committee announced today.
The award, in its 42nd year, is given annually to the nation's college lineman of the year.
Eligibility for award is limited to down linemen, end-to-end, either on offense of defense, who set up no farther than 10 yards to the left or right of the ball, and linebackers who set up no farther than five yards deep from the line of scrimmage. All candidates also must be eligible to play college sports under the rules and regulations of the NCAA.
Adcock, a senior offensive lineman from Claremore, Okla., was a first-team All-Big 12 selection by the coaches and the Associated Press. In 2010, he started every game at right tackle for the Cowboys without allowing a sack and helped anchor an OSU offensive line that finished the regular season No. 8 nationally allowing less than one sack per game. He was also among the candidates for Big 12 offensive lineman of the year.
Lewis, a sophomore linebacker from Missouri City, Texas, was named a first-team freshman All-American as selected by Rivals and the Football Writers Association of America, the Big 12 co-defensive freshman of the year and he could already be considered an all-conference candidate. He became a starter for the final six games of his freshman season last year and finished fifth in tackles with 58, second with eight tackles for loss, second with three interceptions, tied for the team lead with two fumble recoveries and led the team with three forced fumbles.
The 2011 award winner will be honored Dec. 6-7, 2011, at Reliant Center in Houston, Texas.
In addition to the Lombardi Award watch list, OSU also has players on the watch lists for the Maxwell Award, Biletnikoff Award, Rimington Award, Ray Guy Award, Outland Trophy, Bronko Nagurski Trophy and Jim Thorpe Award.
