11 Reasons to Purchase Season Tickets

Last year's Cowboy football team did something that no other team in school history has done: win 11 games. Oklahoma State has also had three-straight seasons with at least nine wins, another first in school history.
To go back even further, the Cowboys have enjoyed five-straight winning seasons under the direction of head coach Mike Gundy. OSU had just three other streaks of five-straight winning seasons prior to the current streak, but the Cowboys have never boasted six-straight winning seasons. This season, the Cowboys are primed to set that mark and many others.
In honor of the school-record 11 wins last season, OSU ticket manager Tom Johnson gives Cowboy football fans 11 reasons they should purchase season tickets in 2011.
11 – Excitement for the team is at an all-time high: A high-octane offense has been a staple under Gundy. Now defensive coordinator Bill Young, entering his third season at OSU, has given the Cowboys a defense to match. With stars like safety Markelle Martin, linebacker Shaun Lewis and cornerback Broderick Brown, the Pokes feature a talented and balanced team. Don't forget about rising star return man Justin Gilbert and the consistently electrifying special teams unit.
10 – See a rematch of the Alamo Bowl game: On Sept. 8, the first of the Stoops Brothers will roll through Stillwater as Mike Stoops and the Arizona Wildcats come into Boone Pickens Stadium looking to avenge a 36-10 loss in last year's Valero Alamo Bowl, which capped the Pokes' historic 11-win season.
9 – Great value for the expected product on the field: Coach Gundy has led the Cowboys to a winning record in each of the past five seasons. There's no reason to believe this season will be any different. With tickets discounted from last year's prices and the core of last year's record-setting team returning, there hasn't been a better time to purchase season football tickets.
8 – Be the first to see the introduction video: The intro video has become a staple at Boone Pickens Stadium in recent years, and the only way to see the adrenaline-pumping tradition is to be in the seats. “There always seems to be a lot of talk about the intro video,” Johnson said. “You have to be here in person to see it.”
7 – There are 12,000 newly-priced tickets: In order to give interested fans additional and more affordable options for purchasing season tickets, the ticket office came up with new plans. “We reduced the ticket price in the 300 level on both sides of the field to give more price points for our fans,” Johnson said.
6 – Get a season ticket while they are still available: “If we have the kind of year we're expecting, you're going to want to have season tickets because you get to renew your seat next,” Johnson said. “If you're in line for a season ticket next year, you don't have to worry about us running out.”
5 – Season ticket holders get priority for purchasing bowl game tickets: Gundy has led the Pokes to five-straight bowl games and three bowl victories. “That is big because season ticket holders get first priority for bowl game tickets,” Johnson said. “If we were to go to a BCS bowl, you're going to want to get that ticket.”
4 – See Bullet run…a lot: The offense under Gundy has always been explosive, no matter who was calling the plays. The Cowboys have ranked in the top 15 in total offense four of the last five seasons, including a No. 3 ranking in total offense last season. With Todd Monken taking control of one of the best offenses in the country in 2011, everyone's favorite quarter horse is sure to stay in top condition while celebrating Cowboy touchdowns.
3 – Opportunity to see at least two legitimate Heisman candidates compete every week: The Cowboy faithful breathed a sigh of relief when senior quarterback Brandon Weeden and junior wide receiver Justin Blackmon announced they would stay in Stillwater for another season. The pair shredded the OSU and NCAA record books last season as Blackmon went on to win the Biletnikoff Award as the nation's best receiver.
2 – Only way to see Bedlam: The only way to get a ticket to the Bedlam game to watch the Cowboys take on the in-state rival Sooners is to purchase season tickets. This is the only opportunity to watch what could be the marquee Big 12 matchup of the season.
1 – Be a member of the 'Sea of Orange': No matter the outcome of the season, this is a fantastic opportunity to watch a group of great student-athletes play quality football. The football program continues to rise in national prominence, and it wouldn't be possible without the support of the fans. Wearing orange is a great way to support OSU, but the only way to make a direct impact is to be in the stands on game day and cheer loud for your Cowboys.
