STILLWATER, Okla. – In an effort to help people in a time of need, the Oklahoma State wrestling program has opened its doors this week to those who have been affected by the tornado that struck Joplin, Mo., earlier this year.
OSU wrestling and coach John Smith have invited any Joplin area high school students affected by the May 22 tornado to attend team camp from June 29-July 3 free of charge.
Oklahoma State Wrestling Camp's local partners, the Microtel Inn and Sirloin Stockade, have also donated housing and meals for qualified campers from the Joplin area to provide them with the opportunity to attend the camp at no charge during this difficult time for their families and community.
The camp is designed for teams to compete in dual meets and a closing tournament. Awards go to the top three teams and to the top three place winners in the tournament. Last year's camp drew 41 teams from 23 states.
