INDIANAPOLIS - Oklahoma State's men's golf team learned its postseason destination on Monday with the announcement of the teams and individuals selected to participate in the 2011 NCAA Division I Men's Golf Championships.
The No. 1-ranked Cowboys will be the top seed in the Colorado Region, which will be conducted May 19-21 at Colorado National Golf Club in Erie, Colo.
The Colorado Region is one of six 54-hole regional tournaments. Thirteen teams and ten individuals not on those teams will compete at each of three regionals while the other three regionals will have 14 teams and five individuals not on those teams. The low five teams and the low individual not on those teams from each regional will advance to the finals.
Joining OSU in Colorado will be Georgia, Auburn, Arizona State, Clemson, Chattanooga, TCU, North Florida, New Mexico State, Northwestern, Colorado State, San Jose State and Denver. Ten individuals will also be among those vying for a spot at the championship finals, which will be conducted May 31-June 5, at Karsten Creek in Stillwater, Okla.
The Cowboys have won two-straight regional titles and eight overall since 1989. OSU has also produced three consecutive individual regional champions with senior Kevin Tway finishing first in 2008 and 2009. Last year, Peter Uihlein claimed medalist honors at Capital City Club in Alpharetta, Ga.
