STILLWATER, Okla. - The team rosters are set for Saturday's Oklahoma State spring football game and among the most interesting things to note is that for the first time since making history together in 2010, quarterback Brandon Weeden and receiver Justin Blackmon are on opposite sides of the action this Saturday.
While Weeden doesn't have the Biletnikoff Award-winner to throw to Saturday, he does have the luxury of being joined in the Orange team backfield by running back Joseph Randle, who has emerged as one of the stars of spring. The Orange team has Hubert Anyiam, Tracy Moore and Colton Chelf serving as threats in the passing game. Johnny Deaton will be taking the Orange snaps when Weeden is on the sidelines. Headlining the White team offense is the duo of Blackmon and fellow receiver Josh Cooper. The White squad will be quarterbacked by Clint Chelf, J.W. Walsh and Ryan Howard and has Jeremy Smith as its featured back.
The spring game should be a showcase of the depth built on the defensive side of the ball, as neither team has an obvious advantage on paper. With Cooper Bassett, Anthony Rogers, Nigel Nicholas and Jamie Blatnick up front, the Orange defensive line has an experience edge on its White counterparts, but the White team boasts three linebackers who are all capable of starting games in 2011 with James Thomas, Caleb Lavey and Joe Mitchell.
Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. in Boone Pickens Stadium and admission is free. Parking is open to fans in any lot other than lot 10 directly behind the west end zone of the stadium. Only the south side of the stadium will be open and fans should enter from those gates. The stadium will open at 1:30 p.m. for the general public and 1 p.m. for club level tickets and suite holders.
All seating for the Orange-White game will be on the south side and concession stands will be open on the south side of the stadium as well. Regular season stadium policies remain in effect.
For those unable to catch the game in person, Dave Hunziker, John Holcomb and Robert Allen will call the action live on the Cowboy Sports Network. Check your local listings.
